Due to the high demand for locally produced meat we sold out of lamb boxes well before the end of the usual production season in 2024. Our 2025 list is open and already has several names added! Don’t be disappointed - get in touch with your requirements and preferred month now to reserve your box.
We pride ourselves on providing a high welfare, locally produced and great tasting grassfed product. All our Shetland hoggets are born and raised on our Lake District family farm so you can be sure of the provenance and traceability.
The Shetland Sheep produces very high quality meat with outstanding flavour and fine texture. As with other primitive breeds Shetlands tend to store much of their body fat around the organs rather than solely in the muscle. This results in far leaner meat than modern breeds.
We produce Derwent Hogget Meat Boxes from our 15 - 18 month old Shetland sheep. The meat can be cooked the same way as lamb but is even more flavoursome. Don’t just take our word for it though - try it!
Occasionally we have mutton boxes available in the Autumn - please let us know if you would like to be added to the waiting list.
We work with a local butcher to create our Derwent Hogget Meat Boxes.
A Standard box includes:
Leg Joints bone in
Shoulder boned & rolled or diced
Loin as Chops, Racks & Cutlets
Mince
Burgers occasionally available, as a seperate order to the meat box, in the following flavours: Lamb &Mint, Lamb & Rosemary, Moroccan Lamb and Kofta Lamb. Gluten Free mixes are available.
Boxes are individually priced to allow for the natural variation in the size of our sheep and ensure every box is great value for money.:
